In 2018, he created portraits with charcoal on cardboard and demonstrated his skills and abilities in the portrait genre. This series has become a real treasure of Kazakh portrait art. Creating a gallery of prominent figures from Uly Abai to the deep-thinking Konaev, Ali explores not only their outward appearance, but also their inner selves, show invisible forms and hidden depths of the world. He was able to touch the delicate soul of the characters, these works were like a mirror showing their inner world.
